Muscat: Oman receives gift from India 100,000 does of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine
On behalf of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the government of the Sultanate and the Omani people, His Excellency Dr.Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Saeedi, Minister of Health, expressed his thanks and appreciation for the friendly Indian government for providing doses of the anti-Coronavirus vaccine to the Sultanate.
In a press statement, His Excellency indicated that the Indian Institute of Serums and Vaccines is one of the largest vaccine factories in the world and confirms that the step to obtain the vaccine comes to reinforce global efforts aimed at overcoming the Corona pandemic and to make vaccines available on an equal basis among all peoples of the world.
His Excellency explained that providing the vaccine will provide protection for everyone, and that its effectiveness, safety and results have been laboratory-confirmed, and that it is important to have an interval of at least 4 weeks between the first and second dose when taking the AstraZeneca vaccine.
The Sultanate received a number of one hundred thousand (100,000) doses of the vaccine developed by AstraZeneca with the University of Oxford, which is produced by the Indian Serum Institute for Coronavirus Prevention # Covid_19 as a gift from the Republic of India who is friendly to the Sultanate of Oman.
His Excellency stated that it is not possible for those who received the first dose of the “Pfizer Bionic” vaccine to receive the second dose of the “AstraZeneca” vaccine, and he says that the preliminary indications are that the new strain of Corona virus responds to treatment with the various vaccines manufactured for Covid-19.
