Al Hazm, Jabreen Among Newly Listed Islamic Heritage Sites

Four Omani Landmarks Added to ICESCO Heritage List

Tashkent:  The Sultanate of Oman has registered four prominent cultural landmarks—Al Hazm Fort, Jabreen Castle, Harat Al Sibani and Harat Al Yaman—on the Islamic World Heritage List.

The announcement was made during the 13th session of the Heritage Committee of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), currently being held in Uzbekistan.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism participated in the session, which saw the registration of 117 cultural sites and elements from 16 Islamic countries.

The newly listed Omani sites reflect significant historical and architectural value. Al Hazm Fort and Jabreen Castle represent advanced models of defensive and administrative architecture, while Harat Al Sibani and Harat Al Yaman showcase traditional urban fabric that illustrates the evolution of Omani settlement patterns.

The inclusion of these landmarks enhances Oman’s presence on the Islamic cultural heritage map and supports the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to safeguard national heritage and promote its historical legacy at regional and international levels.
