Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia inaugurate the direct land road “Empty Quarter Road” and inaugurate the two ports between them.

The length of the “Empty Quarter Road” linking between two countires is 725 km, and it starts from the side of the Sultanate of Oman from the Ibri roundabout in the Dhahirah Governorate and ends at the Empty Quarter crossing with a length of 161 km.

The road starts from the side of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from the Batha intersection and ends at the border crossing, with a length of 564 km.

Initially, commercial trucks will be allowed to cross the border between Oman and Saudi highway road 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, while the movement of people will be allowed 24/7 hours.

They also welcomed the opening of border checkpoints in the Sultanate of Oman and Saudi Arabia.

The Empty Quarter Road is of great importance in opening up prospects for cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially in the economic aspect, as it contributes to expanding the volume of trade exchange and reviving tourism, enabling Omani exports to reach the rest of the world through the Red Sea gateway and will enable Saudi exports to reach the rest of the world directly through the Sea of Oman and the Arabian Sea.

Eng. Nasser bin Hamoud Al-Mabsali, Director General of Ibri Industrial City (Madayn), says in a statement to the Oman News Agency and the Sultanate of Oman Radio: The inauguration of the “Empty Quarter Road” linking the Sultanate of Oman and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represents a strong addition and great importance, whether in the movement of individuals or the movement of trade exchange .

He indicated that the proximity of Ibri Industrial City to the Kingdom constitutes an important opportunity for the exchange of visits by Saudi investors to learn about the investment opportunities in the city.

He added that the industrial city is currently being prepared to attract investments from the Saudi side, as the “Empty Quarter Port” will contribute to creating economic mobility in Ibri Industrial City and Al Dhahirah Governorate in particular and the Sultanate in general.

He stated that Ibri Industrial City offers many incentives to attract investors, including an exemption from the rental value for two years with the reduction of rents to a subsequent 3 years, adding that it will be a full-service industrial city with the existing facilities represented in the speed of permits and other procedures.
