Oman scam alert: Royal Oman Police warn against fake job announcement
Muscat: The Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigations has detected a new fraudulent activity targeting youngsters, whereby a fraudulent announcement for fake jobs is sent via SMS in order to lure the victims and persuade them to carry out specific online businesses in return for financial profits. Once these amounts are transferred to their bank accounts, they are asked to pay money to obtain a tempting prize, followed by other requests without the victims realizing that they have fallen victim to an organized scam.
The Royal Oman Police urges all citizens and residents to verify the authenticity and source of published announcements and report any relevant suspicions to the authority concerned.
