Fourth edition of Oman Science Festival 2024 kicks off
Muscat: The fourth edition of the Oman Science Festival 2024 kicked off today at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre under the slogan “Our Sustainable Resources”, with the participation of more than 140 institutions from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman.
The festival includes 520 diverse scientific activities and will last for 8 days. The opening of the festival was sponsored by His Excellency Dr. Hilal bin Ali Al-Sabti, Minister of Health.
In a statement, His Excellency Dr. Musa Al-Maqrif, Minister of Education of the State of Libya, praised the students’ interaction with the festival’s activities and their active participation in its important corners and the diversity in its various aspects, stressing that the festival contributes to developing students’ knowledge and will have a great impact on improving their skills, especially with the presence of an elite group of academics, specialists and students in one place.
The festival aims to deliver science to students and members of society through easy means and interactive methods that stimulate creative thinking, and provide positive trends towards science, innovation and scientific research.
The festival targets school students, students of higher education institutions, educators and parents, ministries, civil and military government institutions, civil society institutions, the private sector, researchers, specialists and academics, in addition to those interested in science from various countries.
The festival encourages students to realize the importance of science in life and urges them to innovate and continue learning in scientific disciplines, to keep pace with global trends based on the dissemination of science and technology and expected future changes and developments, and to enhance their skills to integrate into the knowledge-based economy.
The festival is an exceptional scientific event and reflects the directions and priorities of Oman Vision 2040, which calls for the importance of creating comprehensive education and sustainable learning that contribute to developing innovation and building a knowledge economy.
The festival offers more than 500 diverse scientific activities that showcase a number of scientific concepts, competitions, scientific courses, and technological devices and applications in an attractive and enjoyable way for students, teachers, and community members alike.
The festival witnesses the participation of 141 institutions from within the Sultanate of Oman, as well as 5 institutions from outside the Sultanate of Oman, namely the European Organization for Nuclear Research CERN, the Museum of Natural Sciences in Belgium, the Hungarian SKILLDICT Foundation, the National Center for the Gifted in Malaysia, and the Mishkat Interactive Exhibition from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The festival’s activities include a number of interactive scientific workshops, scientific presentations, competitions, lectures, and some scientific experiments.
The exhibition includes 24 diverse corners, including environmental diversity, smart future, health and life, pavilions to space, smart cities, cybernetics and buds, natural resources, sustainable food and our financial resources, vibrant energies, carbon neutrality, thriving sciences, sustainable environment, science bridges, wonders of the universe, military technologies, the mobile planetarium, artificial intelligence competitions, sustainability hackathons, and the scientific innovations exhibition.
The Oman Science Festival is a platform for innovation, passion and experimentation, and a mirror that reflects the ambition in the directions of Oman Vision 2040 and the National Innovation Strategy.
The fourth edition of the Oman Science Festival 2024 comes as a continuation of the successes of the previous editions organized by the Ministry of Education in 2017, 2019, and 2022, always placing students at the center of attention, and science with its accelerating technologies that all human practices focus on in various professions and other life practices as another focus, and focusing on the human ability to overcome the challenges.
