Oman sees decline in Vehicle Spare Part Imports till May 2024

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman’s total imports of vehicle spare parts by the end of the first five months of this year (2024) declined 11.8 percent to RO 44,695,140 as against RO 50,683,871 during the corresponding period in 2023, according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) topped the list of countries supplying vehicle spare parts to Oman as at the end of May 2024, to the tune of RO 19,480,336. Japan occupied second place (RO 13,728,648), followed by India (RO 2,156,903), Thailand (RO 1,999,484) and China (RO 1,669,950).

Yet, the total value of Oman’s exports of vehicle spare parts by the end of May 2024 grew by 27.04 percent to RO 9,868,483, compared to RO 7,767,713 in the corresponding period in 2023, according to the NCSI.

The total weight of vehicle spare part exports from Oman during the first five months of 2024 stood at 14,327,313 kilograms, compared to 10,244,585 kilograms during the corresponding by the corresponding period in 2023.

The Czech Republic topped the list of countries importing vehicle spare parts from Oman by the end of May of 2024 (to the tune of RO 4,098,425), followed by the United States of Mexico (RO 2,066,158), the Netherlands (RO 1,193,587), the United States of America (RO 709,888) and the United Arab Emirates (RO 510,330).

However, the value of vehicle spare part re-exports from Oman as at the end of May 2024 dropped 65.66 percent to RO 11,125,786 as against the same re-exports during the corresponding period in 2023 (RO 32,396,522).

The total weights of vehicle spare parts that were re-exported from Oman during the first five months of 2024 stood at 2,646,405 kilograms, compared to 5,286,371 kilograms at the end of May 2023.

The UAE topped the list of countries to which vehicle spare parts were re-exported from Oman by the end of May 2024 (Value: RO 7,282,841), followed by Turkey (RO 2,170,831), the United Kingdom (RO 636,822), the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (RO 132,236), and the United States of America (RO 128,680).

As many as 1,527 establishments operated in the sale of vehicle spare parts in Oman by the end of April of 2024, among them 856 operated in the business of selling new spare parts for vehicles and 671 in the retail sale of used spare parts.  – ONA
