Oman sees 42.7% rise in number of SMEs till March 2022

Muscat: The total number of micro, small and medium enterprises registered with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 42.7 percent by the end of March 2022, to reach 73,741 institutions, compared to 51,663 institutions during the same period in 2021 .

The latest data issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed that the Governorate of Musandam topped the growth in the number of small, small and medium enterprises during this period by 102.1 percent. Al Dhahirah Governorate has the lowest growth rate in the number of micro, small and medium enterprises at the end of March 2022, at 31.4 percent compared to the end of March 2021.

As for the Governorate of Muscat, it obtained the largest percentage of the number of micro, small and medium enterprises at the end of March 2022, with a number of 24,977 establishments. The Governorate of North Al Batinah came in second place, with 11,464 establishments, while Al Dakhiliyah Governorate came in third place with 8,534 establishments.
