Muscat: Heavy rains with thunder fell on separate areas across the country on Tuesday due to the unstable weather conditions
CAA said: “Due to the expected heavy thunderstorms accompanied with strong downdraft winds and hail over governorate of Musandam (50-150 mm). And expected rainfall amounts ranging from 30-120 mm over Al Buraimi, Al Dhahira, North Al Batinah and Al Dakhylia governorates. And continuous varied intensity rain over governorates of Muscat, South Al Batinah, South Al Sharqiya and North Al Sharqiya and the northern parts of Al Wusta governorate causing flashfloods. Chances of isolated rain over Dhofar governorate.
The Civil Aviation Authority advices all to take precautions during thundershower rain, and not to cross Wadis (Flashfloods) and avoid low laying areas and not to sail during alert period.
Alerts:
Heavy thundershowers with hail are expected ranging (30 – 150 mm) causing flashfloods.
Strong downdraft active winds with speed ranging 15 – 45 knots (28 – 83 km/h).
Sea state may rise along Musandam governorate and Oman Sea coasts (2 -3 meters).
Reduction in horizontal visibility during thundershowers.”
