His Excellency Dr. Saud bin Hamoud bin Ahmed Al Habsi, Minister of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources, issued Ministerial Decision No. 274/2023 to stop issuing licenses for the establishment of artificial reefs (Al Shadoud), which stated:
Based on the Living Aquatic Resources Law issued by Royal Decree No. 20/2019, and to the executive regulations of the Law of Marine Fishing and the Protection of Living Aquatic Wealth issued by Ministerial Resolution No. 4/94, And to the regulations regulating the establishment of artificial reefs (shadoud) issued by Ministerial Resolution No. 55/2004, Based on the public interest.
Article One: The issuance of new licenses for the establishment of artificial reefs (shaddoud) shall be suspended for a period of (5) five years from the effective date of this decision.
Article Two: This decision shall be published in the Official Gazette, and shall be effective from the day following the date of its publication. Issued on: 5/14/1445 AH Corresponding to: 11/28/2023
