Oman Participates in OIC Parliamentary Union Meetings in Mauritania

Oman Engages in Parliamentary Union Talks on Regional and Islamic Issues

Nouakchott:  The Sultanate of Oman today participated in meetings of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States, held in Nouakchott, Islamic Republic of Mauritania, as part of the 55th session of the Executive Committee of the OIC Parliamentary Union.

The Omani delegation was headed by Mohammed Salim Al Harthy, Member of the State Council.

The meeting discussed the draft agenda of the Executive Committee in the presence of members of the Committee on Economic and Environmental Affairs. During the session, two Vice-Presidents of the Executive Committee were elected to represent the African and Asian groups, and the distribution of seats for Executive Committee members for the upcoming session was approved.

The meetings also reviewed the recommendations of the previous conference and discussed preparations for the 20th Conference of the Parliamentary Union, scheduled to be held in Baku, Republic of Azerbaijan, in mid-June 2026.

In addition, participants addressed the Palestinian cause, the current challenges facing the Islamic nation, and ways to enhance joint efforts to achieve security and stability in the region.

The 55th session of the Executive Committee focused on developing mechanisms for joint parliamentary action, exchanging parliamentary experiences, addressing political, economic, and social issues, and formulating recommendations aimed at strengthening collective Islamic cooperation.
