Kuwait: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the 21st meeting of the Executive Committee for Civil Aviation of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, which is being hosted by the State of Kuwait.
The delegation of the Sultanate of Oman participating in the meeting, which is organized by the Kuwaiti Directorate General of Civil Aviation in cooperation with the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council, was headed by His Excellency Engineer/ Naif bin Ali Al-Abri, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority.
The meeting discussed a number of strategic files in the civil aviation sector, including the project to establish a Gulf Civil Aviation Authority, the project to establish the upper airspace for the GCC countries, the mechanisms of Gulf cooperation in the unified program for assessing safety on foreign aircraft operating airports in the GCC countries, and coordination and integration in advanced air transport projects in the GCC countries.
In his speech on behalf of the Sultanate of Oman, His Excellency the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority praised the meeting as reflecting the keenness of the GCC countries to consolidate joint action and enhance mutual cooperation to support this vital sector.
His Excellency stressed that the meetings of the Executive Committee “represent a mirror reflecting the joint commitments of the GCC countries, and a practical translation of their determination to develop policies and promote initiatives that advance the civil aviation sector,” noting that this sector is a fundamental pillar and a strategic lever for achieving sustainable development and economic growth.
He added that the current stage requires “taking ambitious strategic decisions that look to the future” in light of the economic and technological changes the world is witnessing, stressing the need to unify efforts and work as one team to enhance competitiveness and consolidate the GCC countries’ leadership in civil aviation.
The meeting reviewed the tasks of the Public Policy and Strategies Committee, and agreed on joint events and activities in the field of civil aviation in the member states for the years 2026-2027.
The agenda also included a review of the achievements of the GCC countries and an exploration of opportunities for cooperation with countries and international organizations with the aim of enhancing integration and exchanging experiences, and supporting the presence of the Gulf civil aviation sector on the regional and international stages.
The meeting comes as part of the GCC countries’ commitment to developing the civil aviation system and unifying efforts to raise the readiness and efficiency of the sector in line with best global practices.
