Oman to celebrate ‘Omani Women’s Day’ on Monday

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman will celebrate, on Monday, the Omani Women’s Day, which falls on October 17 annually, under the slogan “Women are partners in development,” believing in her active role in the era of the renewed renaissance under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik who emphasized the His high concern that Omani women enjoy their rights guaranteed by law as long as they are willing to be a partner in creating an inspiring reality for a bright and sustainable future at various levels as they play their role in various disciplines to achieve the goal and purpose of development.

The honourable Lady, spouse of His Majesty the Sultan, has emphasized on various occasions the great efforts made by Omani women in the Sultanate of Oman to build, develop and support her family, and the active social, national and humanitarian contributions in several fields.

According to the National Center for Statistics and Information for the year 2021, the number of educated Omani women at the “general diploma” level reached 313,745, the “higher education diploma” 53,232, and the “bachelor’s degree and above” 152,422.

The number of Omani women working in the government sector reached 89,164 female employees, and in the private sectors 126,737 employees, while the number of Omani women’s associations reached 64, and the number of female members was 8,483. The number of Omani women benefiting from social security reached 86,633, which is equivalent to 67 % of total beneficiaries.
