Oman to Honor 550 Athletes After Winning 300 Medals in 2025

Muscat:  The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth will honor tomorrow (Wednesday) outstanding athletes and sports contributors for the year 2025.

A total of 550 honorees from 52 sports institutions and entities will be recognized after securing more than 300 medals across 69 global, continental, international, regional and Arab competitions.

The ceremony will be held under the auspices of Sheikh Al Fadhl Mohammed Al Harthy, Secretary General of the Council of Ministers.

The Ministry continues its annual recognition programme to acknowledge achievements in the sports sector and encourage athletes and teams to maintain high performance levels.

The medal tally includes 117 gold, 91 silver and 97 bronze medals, reflecting the outcomes of sustained training programmes, technical preparation and participation in various competitions.

Among the أبرز teams to be honored are the national beach handball team, winner of the Asian Championship, and the hockey team, which secured the Asian Cup title. The ceremony will also recognize the shooting team for winning a silver medal at the Asian Cup, and the powerlifting team for achieving two bronze medals at the Asian Championship.

The bodybuilding team will be honored for securing three silver and four bronze medals at the World Bodybuilding Championship, in addition to medals at the Asian level. The national billiards team will also be recognized for winning a gold medal at the World Billiards Qualifiers.

Other honorees include the national taekwondo team, which won a silver medal at the World Junior Taekwondo Championships, the maritime sports team for securing gold at the World Team Racing Championship in sailing, and the diving team for achieving a silver medal at the World Underwater Activities Championship.

The Special Olympics national team will also be honored after winning one gold, one silver and five bronze medals at the Special Olympics World Winter Games.
