Oman to inaugurate RO 155 million Ibri Solar Power Plant on Monday

Muscat: The inauguration of the Ibri solar power plant will be celebrated in the Wilayat of Ibri on Monday, with an investment of about 155 million Omani riyals, in line with Oman’s 2040 vision to invest in available opportunities and protect the Sultanate of Oman’s natural resources.

The plant is the first station to be connected to the main electricity network in the Sultanate of Oman, and it produces 500 megawatts, enough to supply electricity to about 50,000 homes.

Engineer Yaqoub bin Saif Al Kiyumi, CEO of the Oman Energy and Water Procurement Company, points out that the Ibri solar power plant project is in the interest of the national priorities set by Oman Vision 2040, which are environmental conservation, exploitation of natural resources, governorate development and the involvement of the private sector.
