Oman to participate in Gulf-Azerbaijan Economic Forum in Baku

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will participate next Wednesday in the activities of the Second Gulf-Azerbaijani Economic Forum, which will be held under the theme “Sustainability.. Investments.. Partnerships” in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku.

The forum is organized by the Federation of Gulf Cooperation Council Chambers in cooperation with the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Authority and with the support of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf.

His Excellency Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Federation of Chambers of the Gulf Cooperation Council, said: “The organization of this forum aims to develop Gulf trade relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan, discuss the best joint investment opportunities, and increase the volume of trade exchange between the two sides, especially since Azerbaijan enjoys economic assets and promising investment opportunities.”

His Excellency explained, in a statement to the Oman News Agency, that the forum will showcase the most prominent projects and commercial and investment opportunities available in various sectors, whether in the GCC countries or Azerbaijan, especially in the sectors of food security, agriculture, energy, water, logistics, transportation, and others.

The two-day forum includes three discussion sessions: the first is related to cooperation in the fields of renewable energy, clean energy, water and electricity, while the second session reviews the challenges and opportunities in the transportation and logistics sectors in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and the Republic of Azerbaijan, while the third session focuses on strategic partnerships between the GCC countries and Azerbaijan in the fields of agriculture, food security and food industries.

The forum includes bilateral meetings between Gulf businessmen and businesswomen and their counterparts from the Azerbaijani side, to discuss establishing joint economic and trade partnerships between the two sides to enhance trade and investment relations and increase the volume of trade exchange between the GCC countries and Azerbaijan, in addition to exchanging expertise and experiences between the two sides.

On the sidelines of participation in this forum, a visit will be made to the Alat Economic Zone and the Pirali Industrial Zone in Baku, with the aim of learning about the business environment, the advantages and incentives it offers to investors, and the most prominent projects located there.
