South Al Sharqiyah Governorate reveals details of Tahayem winter season in Jalan Bani Bu Hassan

Muscat: The South Al Sharqiyah Governorate today revealed the details of the “Tahayem winter season” scheduled to be held from January 25 to February 3, 2024 in the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Hassan, with the participation of various government and private establishments.

Muhammad bin Ali Akaak, Wali of Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, said: Organizing the Tahayem winter season comes within the framework of enhancing tourism and commercial activity and activating the comparative advantages that characterize the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate as it is one of the economic destinations of the Sultanate of Oman.

He indicated that the aim of holding this event is to introduce the tourism components of the governorate and exploit its diversity and uniqueness, promote tourism and attract investments in the tourism and service sectors, highlight the competitive advantages of the sandy areas in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, and create a distinctive entertainment and tourism outlet for visitors locally and regionally, in addition to contributing to supporting Preserving resources and creating added value to benefit the local community.

He added that this season is the first experience of its kind in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, as it carries unique and distinct dimensions, as the governorate embraces vast areas of sand dunes extending to the Arabian Sea, in addition to the advantage of environmental diversity and cultural and historical landmarks. His Excellency explained that the name “Tahayem winter season” takes its symbolism from one of the famous desert villages in the state, located in the middle of the Eastern Sands and representing the meeting point for those crossing the Eastern Sands Desert from various directions, pointing to the most prominent programs and activities of the season, which will witness a package of diverse events and activities that suit all segments.

The community, where the season will host the largest exhibition selling the finest types of dates and honey, and holding activities and events on the designated stage to host theatrical performances, various artistic performances, poetry evenings, juggling shows, and children’s competitions.

He indicated that the season will witness many activities and events, including a special corner for the local market for productive families and small and medium enterprises, a corner for fast food and drinks, a corner for creativity and innovation, through which an exhibition of wildlife photos and an exhibition of fine arts will be presented, a corner for innovations and student creativity, and the heritage village, which will host a number of corners. Among them are the craftsmen’s corner, the Bedouin environment tent, a special square for folk arts, and the desert adventures and camping corner.

He added that the season will include camel races that will be held at Al-Seeh Al-Akhdar Square in the Wilayat of Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan, the “Rahal” camel endurance race that will be held on the road leading to the Al-Tahayim area, and the four-wheel-drive vehicle challenge that will be held in “Tal Murhab,” in addition to organizing events. Sports, where two sports tournaments will be organized for the national teams, the first in sand football and the other for sand volleyball, in addition to holding a competition for the cubs in performing “Al-Zafeen” accompanying the Omani art of Al-Razha.
