Oman Unveils ‘Ready Youth Skills Development Programme for 2024

Muscat: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MCSY) revealed the details of the “Ready” youth skills development programme for the year 2024. This initiative aims to targets 1,000 young individuals from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, starting from January and continuing until next November. 

The program is held in five different governorates in which Outward Bound Oman operates: North Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, Musandam, Al Wusta, and Al Dhahirah.

Each camp lasts for four days, during which participants go through a unique experience with an experiential learning approach that contributes to creating a strong  and long-lasting impact.

Hilal Al-Siyabi, Director General of the General Directorate of Youth at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, said: The camp’s curriculum was built in accordance with the Omani National Framework for Future Skills.

This framework aligns with Oman Vision 2040, specifically in the (human and society) axis, addressing the requirements of sustainable development and future skills.

Hilal Al-Siyabi added that the camp’s curriculum includes throughout the four days includes problem-solving activities, group discussions, mountain hiking, and camping in the natural environment away from external distractions and led by highly qualified and trained Omani trainers.

He explained that the camp aims to equip participants with skills and behaviors that institution owners seek to instil in their new employees, such as communication skills, problem solving, and self-management. Participants will gain a greater awareness of employers’ expectations, work ethics, and labor market requirements.
