Muscat: Formed over the Arabian Sea, a low pressure area is set to trigger rain in most parts of Sultanate of Oman till Wednesday, according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)
In a statement CAA said: The latest weather updates and analysis of the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Center indicate that Sultanate of Oman will be under the effect of upper level low from Arabian Sea starting from Monday 19″ of August, 2024 until Wednesday 21st of August 2024. Clouds advection is expected over most of The Sultanate of Oman governates with chances of isolated rain of varying intensity and occasional thunderstorms.

Monday and Tuesday 19th — 20th of August:
Clouds advection over most of the Sultanate of Oman governorates. Chances of clouds advection and formation associated with isolated rain of varying intensity occasionally thunderstorms over the governorates of South Al Shargiyah, North Al Shargqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, Al Wusta, Dhofar , parts of Muscat and South Al Batinah, Al Dhahirah as well as Al Hajar Mountains and adjoining areas. The governorates of Dhofar, Al Wusta, Al Dhahirah , South Al Shargiyah, North Al Sharqiyah and Al Dakhiliyah are expected to be impacted the most.
Expected impact:
Rainfall between 15-45 mm may lead to the flow of some wadies .
Fresh downdraft winds with speeds ranging between 15-35 knots (28-65 km/h) leading to movement of unstable objects.
Decrease in horizontal visibility during thunderstorms and rising dust due to downdraft winds.
Rough sea along Arabian Sea and Oman Sea coasts with a maximum height of 4 meters.
Wednesday 21st of August:
Clouds advection and formation with chances of isolated rain occasionally thunderstorms over the Al Wusta, Dhofar governorates. Chances of clouds formation during the afternoon and evening hours over the Al Hajar Mountains and adjoining areas.
Expected impact:
Rainfall between 10-25 mm may lead to the flow of some wadies .
Fresh downdraft winds with speeds ranging between 15-35 knots (28-65 km/h) leading to movement of unstable objects.
Decrease in horizontal visibility during thunderstorms and rising dust due to downdraft winds.
Rough sea along Arabian Sea and Oman Sea coasts with a maximum height of 4 meters.
