Muscat: Tropical Storm ‘ASNA’ 635 km away from coast of the Sultanate of Oman, chance of varying intensity rain from September 1, according to CAA.
In a statement CAA said: The latest satellite images and analyses from the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Center indicate that the tropical storm is centered northeast of the Arabian Sea at a latitude of 23.5N and a longitudeof 65.0 E. and lays approximately 635 km away from the coast of Oman (Ras al Hadd). The estimated wind speed around the center is between 35 and 45 knots, with the nearest rain-bearing cloud mass being about 280 km away (Ras al-Hadd). It is expected to continue moving west towards Oman Sea during the coming 24 hours and then deflects south/south west during the coming 48 hours with gradual dissipation away from South Al Shargiya coasts (Arabian Sa). Starting from Sunday evening until Monday 1 — 2 September 2024, chances of varying intensity rain (10 -30 mm) affecting governorates of South Shargiyah, North Shargiyah, Muscat and parts of Al Wusta, may lead to wadi flow. Gradual dissipation of the impacts from the system is expected by Tuesday morning 3 September 2024.

– Roughsea state along Oman Sea and Arabian Sea coasts, with wave heights ranging 3 to 5 meters, with a chance of sea water inundation over low-laying coastal areas and creeks.
Civil Aviation Authority advices all to take precautions during rainfall and flash flood flow and to check visibility and sea state before sailing and follow the issued weather bulletins & reports.
