Dr. Electron application for science education funded by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation won the Jazan Award for Excellence and Creativity (the field of innovations) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at its 15th session.
Prof. Dr. Sulaiman bin Muhammad Al Balushi, Professor of Curriculum and Science Teaching at Sultan Qaboos University said that the idea of the application came with the aim of enhancing science education among students. It works on mobile devices and phones, and in 2022 it obtained a copyright and registration certificate for intellectual property issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in the Sultanate of Oman, and it was designed to cover a wide range of scientific concepts in various topics such as energy, movement, space, the environment, the human body and health and it contains interactive interfaces related to these concepts and bears titles such as the energies of the universe, discover your body, the lungs of the earth, our beautiful environment, listen, the world of movement, the blue planet, my diet, and other interesting topics.
The application comes in response to the recommendations of many international studies that suggest the need for a phone application based on the concept of gamification in teaching scientific concepts for students.
The researchers hope that the application will contribute to raising the level of educational attainment of learners and increase their motivation to learn.
