Third edition of Omani-Bahraini Fine Arts Exhibition opens in Muscat
Muscat: The third edition of the Omani-Bahraini Fine Arts Exhibition, organised by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth in cooperation with the Omani-Bahraini Friendship Association and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Sultanate of Oman, was opened today at the Omani Society for Arts in Muscat Governorate. The exhibition will continue for two days.
The opening was sponsored by His Excellency Sayyid Saeed bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Culture, and attended by a number of ambassadors and officials.
His Excellency Dr. Juma bin Ahmed Al Kaabi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Sultanate of Oman, said: Holding the Omani-Bahraini Fine Arts Exhibition comes within the framework of cultural exchange between the two brotherly countries with the aim of advancing bilateral relations and rapprochement between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Sultanate of Oman, reaching the stage of integration.
He added that the exhibition has become an annual cultural event and an added value to the culture and history of the two brotherly countries, as it reflects the extent of the deep-rooted historical Omani-Bahraini relations, including the diverse participation of Omani and Bahraini artists with rich experiences, who reflected through their creativity the ancient, modern and contemporary cultures of Oman and Bahrain, in all forms of daily life, heritage and history.
His Excellency pointed out that the civilizations of Majan and Dilmun constitute a roadmap for the joint Omani-Bahraini culture, which includes all branches of culture, and a noble humanitarian message translated by the participating visual artists through their paintings that express their aspirations, hopes and anticipation for the future.
For her part, Radina bint Amer Al-Hajri, President of the Omani-Bahraini Friendship Society, said that the new edition of the exhibition comes within a package of events organized by the Society during the current year.
She pointed out that the exhibition will feature about 14 Omani and Bahraini artists through the display of 67 artworks in the field of sculpture and paintings, in addition to a dialogue session entitled “History of Omani-Bahraini Fine Arts” in which the visual artist Noor Al-Sayrafi and the visual artist Zuhair Al-Saeed from the Kingdom of Bahrain will participate, and the visual artist Khalil Al-Kalbani and the visual artist Halima Al-Balushi from the Sultanate of Oman will participate.
