Omani-British Strategic Advisory Group Holds Second Meeting in London

London: The Omani-British Strategic Advisory Group concluded its second meeting of the year in London. The meeting aimed at enhancing relations between the two countries and achieving the joint financial, investment and economic goals.

The Omani side was chaired by Nassir Khamis Al Ghashmi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance and the General Supervisor of the National Programme for Fiscal Sustainability. Meanwhile, the British side was chaired by Lord Gerry Grimstone.

Al Jashmi underlined the importance of the Advisory Group’s role in identifying areas of cooperation between Oman and the United Kingdom. He commended the progress made in various areas of cooperation since its establishment, stressing the need for further efforts towards more successes.

The meeting discussed Oman’s approach towards clean energy and achieving zero neutrality in 2050, in light of the two countries’ approach to build a firm base for a sustainable economy.

The two sides touched on the cooperation mechanism to prepare for attending the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), scheduled to be held next November in the United Arab Emirates.

On the sidelines of the meetings, the Omani delegation went on tour of some financial institutions, such as the British Growth Fund and London Stock Exchange. – ONA
