Omani Cultural Days Begin in Rome

Muscat: Activities of the Omani Cultural Days began at the Colosseum Archaeological Park in the Italian capital, Rome.

The event is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, with the aim of extending cultural communication between the Sultanate of Oman and the countries around the world through culture and arts. The Omani Cultural Days run through ill 10 June 2022.

Sayyid Said Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Culture told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the ministry is keen to be present in global events that enhance cultural communication between the Sultanate of Oman and other countries of the world. He added that these fora represent an opportunity to promote for the Sultanate of Oman and highlight Omani culture and its rich arts in various fields.

He pointed out that these international participations are an opportunity to enhance the Sultanate of Oman’s presence in the international arena at the art level, to gain more experiences and review rich blend of cultures between the Sultanate of Oman and the rest of the world.

The opening ceremony included presentation of joint musical notes by Omani and Italian musicians, whose pieces varied between traditional and international, classical and contemporary works.

After the opening ceremony, the audience toured sections of the two exhibitions of photographs and fine arts. The exhibitions spotlight the wonderful nature of the Sultanate of Oman, its history and ancient civilization, as well as Oman’s civilizational and cultural landmarks, the authentic Omani customs, traditions and wildlife.

The photo gallery includes 38 pictures of Omani artists and 3 pictures of Italian artists.

The Fine Arts exhibition also includes 26 artworks by a number of Omani fine artists.

The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Ahmed Salim Ba’omar, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Italian Republic, heads of diplomatic missions in Italy, officials from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and Italian officials.
