Omani Cultural Days kicks off in Jordan

Amman: The activities of the Omani Cultural Days, organized by the Omani Studies Unit at Al Al al-Bayt University in cooperation with the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs in the Sultanate of Oman, kicked off today in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

The cultural days shed light on the Omani role in serving Islamic sciences and the Arabic language, with the participation of a number of academics and researchers from the Omani and Jordanian sides, as well as poets and singers from both sides.

Abdul Rahman bin Ahmed Al Khalili, Director of the Committees and External Relations Department at the Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs and a member of the Omani Studies Unit Council, said in a speech during the inauguration: “The Omani civilization is a vast and well-established civilization that goes deep into human history, and therefore it cannot be reduced to cultural days or weeks, and what it does.” Unity today is nothing but a highlight on some aspects, and an encouragement to the elite, researchers, and members of Jordanian society in general to visit their second country, the Sultanate of Oman, and to see its features and civilization, thus achieving the mixing and sharing that we aspire to between the two brotherly peoples.

For his part, Dr. Muhammad Al-Droubi, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Omani Studies Unit at the university, said a speech in which he stated that since the establishment of the Omani Studies Unit in the heart of Al al-Bayt University, to take care of the cultural heritage and contemporary Omani studies, and to increase the cultural cohesion between Jordan and Oman, the unit has organized fourteen conferences to date. Internationally, it published works, most of which are among the university’s publications, in more than forty volumes. The unit also organized more than one hundred daily activities such as lectures, seminars, competitions, and exhibitions.

The cultural days are accompanied by an exhibition containing a number of corners, including the corner of the Omani Quran in Braille, the corner of the Omani book, the corner of pictures from the memory of the Omani Studies Unit, the corner of Omani manuscripts, the corner of the Omani candy industry, and the corner of adventure tourism in the Sultanate of Oman.
