Omani Cultural Festival begins

Muscat: The activities of the Omani Culture Festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, began today at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, with the participation of 16 poets and 10 folklore groups from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al Harasi, Minister of Information. 3 days.

The festival aims to preserve the continuity of the poetic movement between form, content, and poetic heritage in its literary styles, and to focus on folk arts related to the life of the Omani, which is characterized by environmental diversity at the level of the governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, and to attract and urge folk groups to practice the arts, and to preserve this legacy by immortalizing it for future generations and encouraging teams And sponsoring and motivating them, highlighting their creativity and artistic potential, cultural communication and learning about Omani, Gulf and Arab poetic experiences, and honoring creators in the fields of poetry and folk arts.

Abdullah bin Muhammad Al Harthy, Director General of Knowledge and Cultural Development at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and Director of the Omani Culture Festival, said in the ministry’s speech: The festival combines poetry with its manifestations, spaces, rhymes and meters, and folk arts, their rhythms, instruments and performance methods that embody various human conditions, joy and sadness.

He added that poetry is the memory of the nation, its office, the record of its events, the preserver of its language and the narrator of its biography, as Oman had a great contribution to providing Arabic poetry, past and present, with masterpieces and precious poems.

He pointed out that the Ministry is always seeking to register some of its folk arts in the World Heritage List as pure Omani arts, created by the Omani, to represent an integral part of the society’s identity, its immortal legacy and its rich cultural balance, and a deep component of its conscience and unique human heritage.
