Rustaq: The Omani Film Association, in cooperation with the Office of the Governor of South Al Batinah, announced the date of holding the Al Batinah International Film Festival in its second session under the slogan “Human Relationship with the Land”, with the aim of highlighting the strong ties between the Omani man and the environment surrounding him, the festival will be held during 12th to november 15th.
The festival is an attractive space for youth creativity in the field of film industry, and an opportunity to benefit from international cinematic experiences, and contribute to spreading cinematic culture and advancing Omani cinematic works.
This year, the festival includes several competitions in a number of axes, including the Omani and international short narrative film competition, the Omani and international short documentary film competition, and the festival competition under the title “The Relationship of the Omani Man with the Earth”. With the aim of enhancing cooperation and communication between different institutions in the production of documentaries using high-quality techniques in terms of clarity of idea, scenario and implementation, and contribute to the dissemination of culture and human values.
Dr. Humaid bin Saeed Al Ameri, President of the Oman Film Association, stressed that the second edition of the Al Batinah International Film Festival comes as a continuation of the series of festivals held by the association, through which it seeks to achieve its desired goals, the most important of which is spreading cinematic culture in society, and promoting the Sultanate of Oman as a future front for the cinematic film industry.
Internationalization, presenting the Omani governorates and states to the media interface, introducing them in cinematic forums, and motivating filmmakers in the Sultanate of Oman by including Omani filmmakers and presenting their cinematic works.
Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Ajmi, Director of Al Batinah International Film Festival, said: The Al Batinah Film Festival, in its second edition, is a unique opportunity for filmmakers to showcase their creativity, exchange knowledge and enhance cultural communication in this field.
He added, “The festival is an opportunity to discover Omani and international talents in the film industry, and we believe in the importance of cinema as a means of conveying stories and enhancing cultural and human communication.”
