Omani film Al Darooj wins Best Screenplay Award at the “Cinemana Days Poetry Film Festival” in Tunisia

Muscat: The Omani short fiction film “Al Darooj” won the Best Screenplay Award at the “Cinemana Poetry Film Festival” during its fourth session, which was held from December 20 to 23, 2023 in Tunisia.

Dr. Hamid Al-Amiri praised the efforts made by the management of the Ayyam Cinemana Poetry Film Festival, the Mekneen Cinema Society, and the jury, which had difficulty choosing due to the distinct artistic competition between the participating films.

Al Ameri said, “I congratulate my country, the Sultanate of Oman, and the Omani films that have a distinguished presence on the podium. I congratulate myself and the crew who contributed with me to all the successes achieved by the film. Thank you to Tunisia and thank you to the filmmakers, intellectuals, poets and writers.”

The film “The Drawers” ​​by writer and director Dr. Hamid bin Saeed Al Ameri is the first Omani short narrative film to be shown at the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center in the United States of America in 2022, and the first Omani short narrative film to be shown at the Arab Film Festival in Korea, and it was also shown at the Egyptian Opera House.
