Omani FM Holds 4th Annual Meeting with Ambassadors, Heads of Diplomatic Missions

Muscat: Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, held the fourth annual meeting with ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited to the Sultanate of Oman. The meeting was aimed at exchanging views on issues related to economic and social development in the Sultanate of Oman, in addition to Oman’s foreign policy.

Speaking about foreign policy, Sayyid Badr stressed Oman’s permanent positions based on dialogue, its firm commitment to principles of justice and fairness, its respect for the international law and the attention it accords to constructive cooperation with other countries and peoples.

Sayyid Badr underscored the significance of dialogue as a cornerstone in handling all regional and international issues and resolving disputes by peaceful means. He expressed the view that dialogue contributes to achieving reconciliation, harmony and peace among all conflicting parties.

A key issue that was accorded top attention during the meeting was the tragic situation in the Gaza Strip and the severe suffering of the Palestinian people as a result of the Israeli occupation forces’ military operations. It was observed that those occupation forces exceeded and violated the rules of the international law and the international humanitarian law.

Sayyid Badr underlined the Sultanate of Oman’s firm position in condemning these violations and its strive to exert efforts with Arab and friendly countries, as well as international organizations, towards the achievement of an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, the termination of escalation and the realization of steps to allow the flow of humanitarian and relief aid into Gaza.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Sayyid Badr thanked the ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Sultanate of Oman for their efforts to enhance relations and develop cooperation between their countries and Oman.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Khalifa Ali Al Harthy, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Political Affairs, and Khalid Hashel Al Musalhi, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Administrative and Financial Affairs.  – ONA
