Omani Officials View Site Proposed for Al Rowdha Economic Zone

Muscat (ONA) : At the behest of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to establish the economic zone in Al Rowdha in the Wilayat of Mahadha, the Governorate of Al Buraimi, ministers, accompanied by officials, today visited the site proposed for establishing the zone. They viewed the potentials enjoyed by Al Rowdha.

The visit began with a helicopter tour. Then, a meeting was held at Al Rowadha Police Station, in which Colonel Said Rashid Al Kabani gave a briefing on Al Rowdha and the roads linking it to the neighboring areas, besides presenting proposals related to road projects.

Their excellencies went on tour of several sites proposed for investment in agriculture sector. They were briefed on propositions that would contribute to activating this sector. They also visited Al Rowdha Border Post (B) during which they discussed a set of topics related to customs, in addition to familiarizing with its facilities and procedures that will be used when opening the post.

The officials who visited Al Rowdha site included Sultan Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance, Dr. Ali Ma’Soud Al Sunaidi, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ). Dr. Saud Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Dr. Khalfan Said Al Sh’uaili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning and Dr.Said Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy. Present at the visit were Sayyid Dr. Hamad Ahmed Al Busaidi, Governor of Al Buraimi, Sheikh Abdullah Salim Al Farsi, Wali of Mahadha and Officials in the governorate.
