Omani racer Hamad Al-Wahaibi starts Rally Oman Sohar International with second fastest time on first stage

Activities of Rally Oman Sohar Interational kicks off on Thursday in wilayat of Nakhal, South Al Batinah Governorate.

Qatari rider Nasser Al-Attiyah achieved first place in the exhibition stage of the OmanSohar International Rally, the first round of the Middle East Rally Championship, and Omani rider Hamad Al-Wahaibi came second and his fellow rider Abdullah Al-Rawahi third.

The competitions for the first stage of the “Oman Sohar International Rally”, the first round of the Middle East Rally Championship, will start today, Friday, which will be hosted by the Sultanate of Oman represented by the Oman Automobile Association, during the period from 27-29 January, with the participation of 15 competitors from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman. The competitions will be held in Muscat Governorate in Al-Khoudh with a total length of 21.98 km, Misfah with a total length of 19.54 km, and Sa’al with a total length of 15.89 km. This is in the Wilayat of Nakhl in the South Al Batinah Governorate, by holding competitions in 3 stages in Al Obeid with a total length of 13.25 km, Qalqal with a total length of 17.71 km, and Wadi Al Hadak – Al Hasanat with a total length of 19.22 km.

The “Oman Sohar International Rally” competitions, the first round of the Middle East Rally Championship, started with the holding of the demonstration stage with a total length of 3.9 km at 4 pm, near the Sultan Qaboos Mosque in the Wilayat of Nakhl, under the patronage of His Excellency Isa bin Hamad Al-Azri, Governor of South Al Batinah. The Qatari world champion Nasser bin Saleh Al-Attiyah won first place at the end of the exhibition stage, while the Omani veteran rally champion Hamad bin Saeed Al-Wahaibi came in second place, and the young rider Abdullah bin Sulaiman Al-Rawahi, the champion of the last version of the rally, came in third place.

While in the local championship category, the Omani contestant Haitham Al-Hadidi came first, while the Omani contestant Haitham Soumar came as the runner-up, and then the Lebanese contestant Nofal Allen came third.
