Omani students invent device to rescue fishermen

Muscat: A team from student company “Etienne” at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Sohar invents a device that contributes to rescue fishermen in Oman, during sea fishing trips by installing the device in the fishing boats, and the device sends a distress signal to the concerned authorities to initiate the rescue process when an emergency occurs.

The innovation, which received an intellectual property certificate from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Investment Promotion, includes advanced satellite communication technologies that allows communication from anywhere on the surface of the earth, water leakage sensors in the boat, and capsize sensors in the event of the boat sinking.
