In this regard, Rahima Al-Jabri, Vice President of the Association’s Board of Directors and supervisor of the competition, said the announcement marks the current stage of the competition, which aims to support playwrights and stimulate creative experiences in theatrical writing.

She noted that the competition witnessed strong participation, with about 48 theatrical texts submitted, reflecting growing interest in playwriting and the commitment of writers to revitalizing the theatre movement in the Sultanate of Oman.

Al-Jabri added that the Association will continue its approach of publishing the shortlisted and winning texts in two books. The first book will feature the seven texts that reach the advanced shortlist, while the second will include the three plays that win the top positions, aiming to document these creative works and make them accessible to researchers and theatre enthusiasts.

She emphasized that the high level of participation highlights the importance of continuing the competition, as it contributes to supporting playwrights, discovering new voices and enriching Omani theatre with creative texts capable of being staged and preserved within the theatrical library.

The Association had launched the second edition of the competition in the first half of 2025, receiving entries between 1 July and 30 November 2025.
