Muscat Municipality Regulating Mobile Vendor Activities 

Muscat:  Omanis not allowed to employ expatriate workers in Mobile Vendor Activities, said Muscat Municipality

In a statement issues online Muscat Municipality said: “In an effort to regulate mobile vendors business activities, and in application of municipal regulations that ensure the preservation of the urban facade, Muscat Municipality wishes to inform the public that requirements to carry out these business activities have been reorganized so to ensure they are practised within a legal and healthy framework, while adhering to the proper conditions and procedures, as follows:

–  Only Omanis can engage in this business, and it is prohibited to employ expatriate workers all over Muscat Governorate.

–  Those wishing to engage in mobile vending business must apply for an initial approval for the required activity, and to commit not to practice it without obtaining a final approval f rom the municipality located in the requested wilayah.

– All licensed vendors must adhere to the stipulated health requirements while carrying out these activities.

Work is underway to reallocate the sites dedicated to mobile vending businesses. Therefore, licensed mobile vendors should rush to reconcile their conditions in accordance with the health controls and requirements stipulated in the ministerial decision No. 241/2016 issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, which relates to the issuance of the regulation of the organization of mobile vendors, and to comply with the provisions of Muscat Municipality resolutions no. (185/ 2017) and administrative resolution no. (219/2019),within a period not exceeding one month from the date of issuing this announcement.”
