Muscat: The Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Berlin has warned Schengen visa holders that visiting the issuing country as the first destination before travelling to any other European Union country is mandatory.
The Embassy of Oman in Berlin said in a statement: “The embassy would like to point out that the European Union requires holders of a Schengen visa to make the issuing country as the first destination in order to use it.
” The statement further explained that entering the German lands (as a first destination) with a visa issued by another European country gives German authorities the rights to prohibit the person(s) from entering the country.
The embassy requests the honourable citizens wishing to travel to the European Union countries to ensure that the first destination for travel is the country issuing the visa. For more details about the Schengen visa and the mechanism for obtaining it can be found on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs:
