Oman’s active mobile broadband internet subscriptions sees 9% increase

Muscat: The number of active mobile broadband Internet subscriptions increased by 9 percent until the end of May 2023, compared to the same period of the previous year, to reach 5,851,173 subscriptions.

The total fixed line telephone subscriptions connected to the Internet protocol also increased by 6.1 percent, recording 275,607 subscriptions, according to the data issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information.

The statistics showed that the number of mobile phone subscriptions increased by 12.4 percent until the end of May 2023, compared to the same period last year, recording 6,953,100 subscriptions.

The largest number of prepaid mobile phone subscriptions was 5,229,350, with an increase of 9.5 percent until the end of May 2023, compared to the same period last year. The total number of analogue fixed line subscriptions, which include prepaid and postpaid, decreased by 13.1 percent, while the total number of fixed internet service subscriptions reached 541,870, up by 3.2 percent until the end of May 2023 compared to the same period last year.
