Oman’s Affirms Pioneering Approach in Supporting National Health Security

Geneva: The Sultanate of Oman has reiterated its resolve to press ahead with its pioneering approach in supporting current and future national health security.

This was unveiled during an event held here to celebrate the 75th anniversary of foundation of the World Health Organization (WHO).

The event was held on the sidelines of the 152nd session of the WHO Executive Board in Geneva.

During Oman’s speech at the event, Health Minister Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti stressed the country’s keenness to promote its future plans for advancing the health sector. In this context, he cited Oman Vision 2040, which, he said, sets a road map for the country’s strategic planning.

Al Sabti added that Oman boasts a variety of economic opportunities, the outcome of which will be seen in economic growth and economic diversification aimed (among other goals) to ensure sustainability in providing health services, since health constitutes one of the most important priorities of Oman Vision 2040.

Al Sabti pointed out that the vision seeks to empower the health sector and make it capable of facing challenges by raising the quality and efficiency of services and upgrading the standard of prevention against health risks.

Oman Vision 2040 also promotes investment in the medical industries, the pharmaceutical sector, medical supplies, the rehabilitation of human resources, digital transformation, digitization and automation of health services, said Al Sabti.

Oman was invited to the meeting to discuss the future of health during the forthcoming 25 years as a member of the Executive Office and one of the WHO’s member states in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. – ONA
