Muscat: The number of passengers travelling through Oman’s airports increased by 9.3 percent by the end of July 2024, recording 8,478,548 passengers on board 63,219 flights, compared to 7,757,629 passengers on board 59,778 flights by the end of July 2023.
Preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) indicated that the number of passengers travelling through Muscat International Airport reached 7,571,148 passengers by the end of last July, an increase of 8.9 percent, who travelled on board 56,498 flights, an increase in the number of flights of 5.8 percent.
Among the flights arriving and departing through Muscat International Airport were 51,535 international flights, with 6,949,193 passengers on board, and 4,963 domestic flights, with 621,955 passengers on board.
The number of passengers travelling through Salalah Airport reached 827,486 passengers, an increase of 10.3 percent compared to the end of July 2023. They travelled on 5,975 flights, an increase of 3.6 percent in flights. The number of international flights through Salalah Airport reached 3,088 flights, with 392,098 passengers on board, while the number of domestic flights reached 2,887 flights, with 435,388 passengers on board.
The number of passengers travelling through Sohar Airport reached 45,126 passengers on 384 flights, while the number of passengers travelling through Duqm Airport reached 34,788 passengers on 362 flights.
Regarding the most prominent nationalities moving at Muscat International Airport, the Omani nationality topped the highest number of passengers on departing and arriving flights through the airport with a total of 216,690 passengers by the end of July 2024, of whom 100,858 passengers arrived and 115,832 passengers departed, followed by the Indian nationality with a total of 182,873 passengers, of whom 99,920 passengers arrived and 82,953 passengers departed, then the Pakistani nationality with a total of 46,885 passengers, of whom 27,528 passengers arrived and 19,357 passengers departed.
