Oman’s Al Mazunah Free Zone receives 14 investment applications

Muscat: Al Mazunah Free Zone received 14 investment requests in the industrial, commercial and real estate fields during the first quarter of this year 2022, which will represent an added value to the business environment in the region.

Saeed bin Abdullah Al Balushi, Director General of Al Mazunah Free Zone, said that 7 out of 14 applications were final approved, and work is currently underway to study and analyze the remaining contracts in preparation for signing them during the coming period.

With regard to the movement of exported goods and vehicles, Al Balushi indicated that the number of trucks issued from the Al Mazunah Free Zone amounted to 5,178 trucks from the beginning of January 2022 AD until April 18, while 2,424 vehicles were exported through the region with a total value of RO 3.3 million, while the volume of goods was During the same period, 80,000 tons with a total value of 13 million Omani riyals.

On the other hand, Al Balushi clarified that the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates “Madayn” continues to implement several vital projects in the Mazunah Free Zone, including the mixed-use service building project, whose completion rate has reached 85 percent, at a cost of more than 3 million Omani riyals on a total area exceeding 11 thousand square meters.

He added that the project aims to provide all services and facilities related to investment operations in the Mazunah Free Zone, and present them to investors, business owners and auditors in one location.

Al Balushi touched on the most important infrastructure projects in the Al Mazunah Free Zone, including the security system project, which is currently being implemented and has a completion rate of 75 percent. As well as to cover the new area of ​​the area, which is estimated at 8 million square meters, in addition to paving a dirt road along the fence to facilitate periodic monitoring work, in addition to a control and monitoring room with monitors and monitors, and entry and exit gates to and from the area.

He pointed to the completion of the second package project of the second phase of the security system in the region on an area of ​​1.6 million square meters at a total cost of 6 million Omani riyals, in addition to the near completion of the design of the fourth phase, with an area of ​​3 million square metres.

It is noteworthy that the free zone in Al Mazunah, managed and operated by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates “Madayn”, is the Gulf gateway for transit trade to the Republic of Yemen and from there to East African countries. It is characterized by a wide range of facilities and services such as tax exemption for up to 30 years, customs exemption, and freedom to own projects For non-Omanis, at 100 percent, and exemption from the minimum capital stipulated in the Omani Companies Law.
