Oman’s automotive fuel production rises by 25pc

Muscat: The production of automotive fuel in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 25 percent during July 2024 compared to the previous month of June, while the total production of refineries and petroleum industries in the Sultanate of Oman decreased by 2.4 percent by the end of July 2024 compared to the same period in 2023, according to preliminary statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information.

Statistics showed that the production of regular motor fuel (91) decreased by 9.6 percent by the end of July 2024, compared to an increase in the production of premium motor fuel (95) by 8.3 percent, as the production of motor fuel (91) reached about 8 million, 685 thousand, and 700 barrels, while its sales reached 8 million, 45 thousand, and 600 barrels, while the production of motor fuel (95) recorded 7 million, 803 thousand, and 800 barrels, with its sales recording 7 million, 595 thousand, and 300 barrels.

Gas oil (diesel) production decreased by 5.2 percent, recording 18 million, 831 thousand, and 300 barrels, and its sales recorded 8 million, 59 thousand barrels until the end of July 2024.

Jet fuel production decreased by 1 percent, recording 6,790,500 barrels, while sales reached 2,364,600 barrels. LPG production recorded 5,173,800 barrels, while sales reached 5,821,200 barrels.

As for petrochemicals, statistics show that gasoline production increased by 6.8 percent, recording 99,900 metric tons, while paraxylene production reached 325,600 metric tons, up by 6.6 percent. Polypropylene production decreased by 21.8 percent, recording 122,700 metric tons, while its sales increased by 30.9 percent, recording 19,800 metric tons.

The Sultanate of Oman’s exports of automotive fuel (91) increased by 16 percent to reach 1,415,400 barrels, and fuel exports (95) until the end of July 2024 recorded an increase of 119.8 percent to reach 912,700 barrels, while exports of gas oil (diesel) reached 10,502,700 barrels, and of jet fuel 4,405,500 barrels, while exports of liquefied petroleum gas reached 290,800 barrels.

Paraxylene exports amounted to 311 thousand metric tons, benzene exports amounted to 97 thousand and 700 metric tons, and polypropylene exports amounted to 93 thousand and 700 metric tons.
