Muscat: The annual statistical indicators report for the year 2022 of the General Court of the Consumer Protection Authority in Muscat that RO 1,553,265 were recovered from various businesses as refunds, as part of the efforts made by the authority to work towards receiving consumer complaints.
The public services sector topped the recovered amounts worth RO 677,024, while the total amount of goods recovered around 3,313 items, which included the recall of new vehicles, a number of electrical and electronic devices, spare parts for vehicles, and other consumer commodities.
The CPA also received from 15,051 complaints in various sectors, such as the vehicles, equipment, machinery, repair workshops, electrical and electronic devices sector, as well as the other public services sector. More than (92.5%) of the total complaints received and satisfactory solutions were reached in accordance with the procedures followed based on the law and its implementing regulations.
The authority appreciates the cooperation and the existing role between consumers and suppliers in settling and resolving complaints, and affirms its continuity in carrying out its mission in order to preserve the rights of consumers in accordance with the applicable legal procedures.
