Oman’s CPA secures RO 4000 refund for consumer in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate

Muscat: As part of its efforts to recover and preserve consumer rights, the Consumer Protection Department in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate managed to facilitate an amicable settlement between a consumer and a construction company.

As per the settlement , the customer managed to refund OMR4000. The اhistory of the settlement is that the Consumer Protection Department I had received a complaint from a consumer stating that he had agreed with a construction contracting company to build a house within a year.

The consumer noticed that the company stopped work after sometime in addition to errors in the construction. He therefore submitted his complaint to the Department, demanding the termination of the contract concluded between him and the company, and compensation for the apparent errors.

Accordingly, the Consumer Protection Department i took the necessary measures regarding the complaint and reached a settlement between the two parties. As per the settlement ,the company agreed to pay OMR4000 as compensation for the consumer.

The Consumer Protection Authority urges suppliers to adhere to the laws in force in the field of consumer protection and to fulfill the conditions and obligations imposed on them, as this preserves the rights of consumers.
