Oman’s Cultural Club launches ‘Children and Youth Film Library’ project

Muscat: The Cultural Club has launched the “Children and Youth Film Library” project, in an effort to promote cinematic culture among children in Omani society. The project aims to spread serious cinematic culture among children and youth, and to add purposeful cinematic content that carries high human and cultural values.

The film library also seeks to enhance the role of cinema in shaping children’s thinking, developing their visions of humanitarian and societal issues, and enhancing their critical thinking. This initiative is the first of its kind, as it was accompanied by a film screening that addressed a group of human, intellectual and educational values, followed by an interactive session for the participants.

Children and youth were also given the opportunity to express their opinions and provide critical insights into the film, which enhanced dialogue and constructive criticism among them.

The films shown in this context are selected by the Children’s Cinema Committee at the Cultural Club to ensure that they are suitable for the target age group, and that the films are compatible with the interests and intellectual abilities of the children.
