Oman’s EA launches the ‘Green Madha’ initiative

Madha: The Environment Authority celebrated the launch of the “Green Madha” initiative, which is an initiative related to enhancing the environmental aspect in the state of Madha, due to its natural components, distinct demographic characteristics and green cover, which is one of the environments far from industrial projects and various causes of pollution.

The initiative aims to support the values ​​of environmental sustainability and humanization of the state of Madha in terms of enhancing and preserving vegetation, monitoring the causes of air pollution, integrating the concept of the circular economy in the state, and also enhancing waste management, environmental cleanliness, and developing environmental services.

The launch of this initiative took place at the Madha Club headquarters under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority, with the participation of many government agencies, the private sector, the local community and its institutions, and a number of citizens and notables.

The ceremony included a presentation of a number of environmental projects by the Environment Agency and participating parties, including a project to plant 30,000 trees in the state of Madha and plant a million seeds during this year, a model village project for livestock breeders, a project to combat invasive plants, in addition to a project to maintain falaj affected by the weather.

The 18 affected falajs, the solar electricity generation project, the municipal waste management and green waste collection project, and the projects of using modern irrigation systems to irrigate green areas.

In this regard, His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al-Amri, Chairman of the Authority, stressed in a speech he delivered that the first goal of this initiative is to achieve environmental sustainability in the state through a number of environmental projects in various sectors, foremost of which is the rehabilitation and development of vegetation and tree cover for wildlife, and many initiatives that It includes the expansion of the dam system, the optimal consumption of natural water resources, in addition to the recycling of green waste and the disposal of invasive species from trees, in addition to other projects presented by the Namaa Company, the Public Services Regulatory Authority, Bee’ah Company, and the initiatives of the Musandam Municipality, stressing that this integration between the various parties is evidence of The environment is everyone’s responsibility.

Sheikh Dr. Hamad bin Saeed Al Maamari, Wali of Madha, said that the “Green Madha” initiative, launched by the Environment Agency and its partners from government agencies and the private sector, is a very important initiative, especially given the nature of the state of Madha, which has dense vegetation cover and a healthy environment free of emissions. Pointing out that this initiative will contribute to enhancing these advantages, as it contributes to environmental sustainability and achieves the directions of “Oman Vision 2040.”

It is noteworthy that the ceremony included a number of visual presentations and working papers, including a visual presentation on the “Green Madha” initiative presented by the Director of the Environment Department in Musandam Governorate, Muslim bin Mubarak Al-Mahri, and a working paper entitled Programs and Projects falling within the specializations of agricultural wealth, fisheries, and water resources, presented by Saeed.

Bin Abdullah Al-Madhani, Anwar bint Abdullah Al-Hamidiyah also presented the third working paper, in which she discussed the efforts of the Madha Municipality in this initiative. Regarding the private sector’s participation in the ceremony, Engineer Mohammed bin Ali Al Shehhi from Nama Electricity Generating Company gave a presentation on clean energy in the state of Madha, while Engineer Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Madhani from the Omani Environmental Services Holding Company (Be’ah) gave a presentation on the proposed action plan for waste management.
