Oman’s EA Organizes Symposium on Circular Economy, Recycling Plastic Waste

Muscat: The Environment Authority (EA) organized a symposium on circular economy, themed “Recycling of Plastic Waste”.

The event aimed at contributing to the protection of nature and the planet, and preventing any possible damages that can be caused by such waste which is not utilized.

Dr. Mohammed Saif Al Kalbani, Director General of Environmental Affairs at EA said that operations of recycling plastic waste are considered investment opportunities which are suitable for all economic levels. Based on recycling operations, many small and medium projects can be established.

Al Kalbani noted that the seminar discussed the importance of adopting the circular economy model, which reduces waste and enhances material efficiency by approving policies, strategies, solutions and advanced recycling technologies.

The seminar included four sessions which were attended by representatives of public units, academic establishments, research centres, private companies and civil society organizations.

Moreover, the opening ceremony was held under the patronage of Dr. Abdullah Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority.  -ONA
