Oman’s Electricity, Water Production Increases by August 2023

Muscat: Oman’s total production of electricity increased by 5% til the end of August 2023 to reach 29,853.7 gigawatts per hour, compared to 28,433.4 gigawatts per hour during the corresponding period in 2022, according to the latest data show.

Statistics issued by the National Center for Statistics and Information showed that the governorates of North and South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah recorded an increase in total electricity production by 2.4 percent, reaching 19,011.1 gigawatts per hour, and in the governorates of North and South Al Sharqiyah, by 7.7 percent, reaching 6,724.1 gigawatts per hour, until the end of August 2023.

Production also increased in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate by 160 percent to reach 150.8 gigawatts per hour, in Muscat Governorate it rose by 22 percent to reach 357.7 gigawatts per hour, and in Dhofar Governorate by 14.4 percent to reach 3161.1 gigawatts per hour, while production in Al Wusta Governorate decreased by 34.7 percent to reach 131.5 gigawatts per hour. Statistics indicated that the Sultanate of Oman’s net electricity production until the end of August 2023 increased by 5.2 percent to reach 28,952.7 gigawatts per hour. Net production in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate increased by 160 percent to reach 150.8 gigawatts per hour.

Net electricity production also increased in the governorates of North and South Al Batinah and Al Dhahirah by 2.7 percent to reach 18,411.8 gigawatts per hour, in the governorates of North and South Al Sharqiyah by 7.7 percent to reach 6,571.5 gigawatts per hour, and in Muscat by 21.8 percent to reach 355.2 gigawatts per hour. gigawatts per hour, and in Dhofar Governorate, by 15 percent to reach 3,024.7 gigawatts per hour, until the end of last August, while net electricity production in the Al Wusta Governorate decreased by 34.6 percent to reach 129.4 gigawatts per hour.

Statistics showed that the total amount of water produced in the Sultanate of Oman increased by 1.8 percent to reach 347,590.1 cubic meters by the end of August 2023, compared to 341,359.4 cubic meters in the same period in 2022.
