Oman’s fertilizer exports to Brazil could reach $1 billion: Report

Muscat: A new study prepared by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce showed that the Sultanate of Oman is among the Arab countries that can supply Brazil with fertilizers exported by Russia, thus contributing to solving the crisis caused by the war with Ukraine.

The Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce said in a report published on its website that it had submitted the analysis to the Brazilian government, specifically to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, to help solve the crisis.

The study said that Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, Jordan, Oman, the UAE and Saudi Arabia are Arab countries, which can supply Brazil with some of the fertilizers that the country buys from Russia.

According to the survey, Egypt could provide ammonium nitrate, with fertilizer mixtures providing ammonium carbonate from Lebanon, ammonium sulfate from Egypt and Morocco, nitrate and phosphate mixtures from Oman and the UAE, urea and ammonium nitrate mixtures in aqueous solution or ammonia from Oman, Saudi Arabia and the UAE, and double salts And mixtures of calcium and ammonium nitrate from Jordan and the UAE, and sodium nitrate from the UAE.

The report added that these are all products that Brazil buys from Russia, not from Arab countries.

The report stated that Brazil imports from Russia $337 million in ammonium nitrate, $16.9 million in ammonium nitrate mixtures, and $16.9 million in ammonium sulfate annually, almost all of which come from the Russian market.

It also stated that Morocco, which exported fertilizers amounting to 896 million dollars to the Brazilian market in 2020, its exports could reach 2.48 billion dollars, and the Sultanate of Oman, which exported 65 million dollars, its exports could reach one billion dollars, and Egypt from 90.7 million dollars to one billion dollars, And Saudi Arabia from $308.5 million to $938.7 million, and Jordan from $29.9 million to $878.8 million.
