Oman participates in the GCC-US Ministerial Meeting and the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting in New York

New York: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the GCC-US Ministerial Meeting held in New York as part of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Sultanate of Oman’s delegation was headed by His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministers exchanged views on regional issues, especially the Palestinian issue and the need for an immediate cessation of the war in the Gaza Strip, a ceasefire with Lebanon, de-escalation and prevention of the expansion of conflicts, with strong emphasis on the two-state solution and the implementation of the Arab Peace Initiative.

They discussed a number of security, political, and economic cooperation files, as well as regional challenges resulting from current wars and conflicts, and the need to address them through dialogue and peaceful means. The Sultanate of Oman also participated in the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting held in New York as part of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The delegation of the Sultanate of Oman was headed by His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, who expressed in his speech the Sultanate of Oman’s appreciation for Brazil’s initiative in opening this important meeting to all members of the United Nations, praising the focus that Brazil has placed on inclusiveness and fair representation, and the fair focus on the pressing challenges facing the countries of the Global South, such as hunger, climate disasters and financing for development.
