Muscat: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement regarding the Schengen visa stating:
In light of the numerous inquiries regarding the exemption of Omanis from the Schengen visa, the Ministry would like to clarify that the Sultanate is in contact with the European Commission of the European Union, as well as with the European member states of the Union on the matter.
However, the Sultanate’s request and those of other countries have not been decided upon in light of developments related to immigration and refugee issues, which prompted European countries to conduct a comprehensive review of the Schengen system and to stop concluding new agreements for the Union until the completion of this review, added in the statement
