Oman’s FSQC issues clarification regarding juice product

FSQC clarifies on statement circulating on social media on juice product that is not fit for consumption

Muscat: The Food Safety and Quality Center (FSQC) confirmed that all food imports are subject to control when they cross border crossings, and are not released except after ensuring that they comply with standard specifications.

The statement added: “With reference to what was circulated on social media about a juice product that is not fit for consumption, we point out that these imports are being followed up after their release through a system for assessing and monitoring food risks by surveying the markets, in coordination with the regulatory authorities, but corruption may occur.” For some products due to poor transportation and storage in a specific location, this does not necessarily mean the product is spoiled in all other locations.

The Center calls on all institutions and companies working in the food sector to adhere to transportation and storage requirements at appropriate temperatures to maintain the safety and quality of food products.
