Muscat, 10 Jul (ONA) — The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation signed 23 agreements with private higher education institutions to provide 742 free scholarships during the academic year 2023/2024 to the tune of RO 9.104 million.
This came during a seminar on the roles of private higher education institutions in community service and the transition to a knowledge society. The event was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.
The seminar aimed at highlighting the role and contributions of these institutions in serving the local community and achieving the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, said that all private higher education institutions in Oman are working, in cooperation with the Ministry, towards diversifying and enhancing the quality of their programmes to keep pace with international developments and the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).
On her turn, Lara Ghassan Obeidat, Director General of Scholarships at the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation said that these scholarships will be offered for competition through the Higher Education Admission Centre.
Moreover, the seminar reviewed the experiences of several private higher education institutions in the field of community service.
